ravena_kadeToday I had my midyear review.
I didn't know that it would be a review as it was scheduled as my monthly one on one meeting.
This is what my manager said is my development for the year. Take an excel class. That is it. Just how am I to get a raise with that? I dont now what bothers me more...that she thinks I'm stupid... or she just cant be bothered with me? I work so hard. I have taken excel classes. I know excel better than she does. I just don't like working with spreadsheets. It is a job with no meaning. It is just tit work.
I DON'T BELONG but I cant leave. I cant take the pay cut and I cant loose the flexibility for Dad's appointments.
The was an offer of OT from another manager. Its researching returned mail. More crap work but I can get about $40 an hour just to open mail. Ill put some energy in that because it has the potential to up my social security if I am not laid off. If I am laid off anything going to pay my bills will be a help.
I'll also take the work online excel class during an office day so she can see me and Ill email her my completion.

Date: 2023-07-27 01:28 am (UTC)But, because you're showing you have Actual Skills and do your Actual Job, the manager is scared stupid and is doing the Petty Insecure Thing and throwing landmines in your path.
I made the mistake of listening to an NPR report as I was coming home that mentioned something about the Economy and Inflation and how the Labor Pool ("especially women") is the biggest/strongest it's been since 2019. And TBH you were one of the first women that came to mind who are stuck in a shithole workplace and being tortured for being an actually good worker who deserves so much better. And I wish these reporters were able to hear from people like you and an online friend ("Billie") who is suffering horribly at work and can't just Up and Leave. And I want these reporters and government officials just reading "data points" and slap them upside the face....etc.

I absolutely dreaded Review Time at 2 of the jobs I had early out of college. It was being dragged through horseshit. I felt like I was back in fucking elementary school with trying to earn the Gold Star that Means Nothing.
