Up at 5 AM to call Amazon.

This person was very polite. He had no idea why I was not receiving any emails.

He cannot open my account because of the 2 step verification procedure....

...who the the hell invents an authorization procedure that locks the main company out? I said this. I said that I work for a bank and we have passwords and you could not invent a system that would stop the bank from seeing someone's account just because they forgot a password or they were hacked.

I asked about how secure my account was. He said that if there was activity then I would receive and email. Umm...no. I had to explain that 3 times. He did not understand why. It has also been 3 days so if the masses were having this trouble then the call centers would know about it.

Does not make sense.

He suggested I set up another account and close my credit card. Sigh. I am wondering if My Amazon Prime Card can send me notices of activity... I don't want to shut the card down as I would have to change everything that gets billed to it...although that may not be bad.

I wonder if anyone knows how to switch accounts on a kindle. I am not good with these things.

I wonder if I should just get a Barnes and Noble Nook.

Have you tried clearing the browsing data on your laptop including the cookies and starting again? Make sure you have the passwords handy for regular sites for logging back in. I assume your browser offers to save them for you?

If my memory serves me I didn't set up any code. When I tried to log in and it wouldn't let me I had to request a code (on the login page) to be emailed to me. Then I copied and pasted the code in. There was an option to request another code when the page was refreshed.

It's certainly weird that they can't access your original account and send you a reset for your password to your registered email address or you are unable to click on 'forgotten password' on the login page which should automatically send you a reset link which should reset everything I would have thought. I do find that it's better to email them (they understand the written word better sometimes) rather than phone but that's just me. I hope you get it sorted out.
