Today when I got in my coworker was trying to start her laptop by pushing the power button on the old computer CPU. Sigh. Questions ensued. It was 5:19 AM. Sigh. Then she was going on away her fly away hair and how the static electricity makes her hair move and that would give her a migraine. She asked if I had any desk cleaner that she could spray on her head.... UMMMMMMMM.... EEEEKKKKK!

When I went to train her she declined. She said she didn't want to learn what I was showing her. Ummm... have you talked to the boss? She said no and that it did not matter. She does what she wants to do and doesn't need the boss. Ummm... I said it mattered to me. The boss told me to train you and I don't want it to look like made the refusal or that I was too busy. She then went on about how unfair it was that I knew this new way of doing this and that she wasn't trained earlier and was mad at us... I said, don't be mad at us...go ask the boss why? You are being trained now because you have the laptop and you have been complaining about how long the old way was taking so the boss is giving you the opportunity to learn. She was just pissy with me and I walked away. I was angry..I have spent half a month dealing with her and the laptop and I was not supposed to be stuck with it.

When I came back I sent an email to the boss telling her that the coworker did not want to continue training.
She responded with a thank you for trying.

The woman that was my trainer had heard the conversation and told me that I should tell the boss. She said that she could see me bending over backwards to help and show compassion to the coworker because she lost her husband and the time of year..and she could see that I was going to loose it.

I did ask to speak to the boss. I told her that I went home in a state yesterday from helping this person and then the refuse training and got pissy with me. If it wasn't time for the monthly reports I would have called in today. I have the time and it must be used. The situation is not fair. The boss said she recognized all the work I was doing... and that she did not think that my coworker even appreciated it. She told the coworker that I offered her my remaining PTO hours so she could go home when she did not feel well yesterday. I said that I could not say that for sure, but I don't need passive aggressive stuff at work. She suggested I take a step back. I agreed and said as long as you don't put me there. I said it is hard as he is in when I get here early and she is on top of me. The boss said she may move my desk when we move since I need a bit of a break. (Thank you). She had thought that the coworker was going to retire in February, but that isn't happening now. That is why they finally broke down and got her a laptop... so she would stop complaining... but the first thing she does with it is to refuse to learn something new. It's frustrating. The boss said that she has run into the passive aggressive before with this person, and not just with me. The boss doesn't think she will even use the laptop at home when we have to work remote. Sigh.

Frankly if a worker complains about not being taught anything new and then refuses to learn anything new and then creates problems about it they should be laid off... but this bank is all about seniority. It will be it's downfall.

To be honest she doesn't sound quite right, as though she's breaking down. Has she been under any pressure recently?

If she wants to lose her job that is not your concern.

You clearly did your best.
