Contractor cousin came by to talk about what they found.

I have more plumbing worries... we averted the pipe in the ceiling thing, but now we found out that the vent pipe in the kitchen sink is rotted. It would have only caused a problem if there was a back up in the garbage disposal so if we did not do the work we would have maybe not noticed for a long time. Not sure what this will cost... plumber gets here in the next few days.

Cousin is good with the bead board idea, but since the walls are uneven he is suggesting rogue and groove beadboard...the real stuff. I just wanted the paneling....because it will have things in front of it. Not sure what the costs is here. I can look it up for cost, but what is the labor?

The countertop I want is a premium one so add $600 to the price, but I was never given the exact cost per square ft... just tell me.

I am trying to do this with my set budget. There is no slush fund if it goes over. And while I would ask TX uncle for help before my Mother's death, I won't do it now...

Could use a lucky lottery ticket with just a tad on it...not a million, just a tad.

I wouldn't call that a plumbing worry, finding rotting pipes before they start leaking is a GOOD thing. It would have cost you way more if it burst or flooded.

if you don't use your garbage disposal, would it be any cheaper to pull it out?
