Day 16: Recipe.

One that I am getting to make is my family's traditional mincemeat cookies. They are a shortbread cookie with bits of mincemeat (apples, raisins, etc...) Not as sweet as mincemeat pie. My grandmother made these forever. She was a tiny thin woman and needed help storing that batter so my sister and I helped. When she passed no one had the recipe. My Uncle tried and I tried to recreate it...and then I found the recipe on the back of a box of mincemeat... we just needed to find the right brand. We only eat these at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The cookies have a bittersweet memory now. I made some as gift for someone special and they never showed up.. I was left standing there like a fool with a tin of cookies. I only make them for my famil

I've never heard of mincemeat cookies but they sound delicious. I love mince pies which are a traditional British sweet mincemeat treat here at Christmas. Yummy with cream :)

None Such. They make both condensed (dry) and wet pie filling in a jar.
