Went to the coworker's husband's wake.

Sad.

In the 5 years I have known her she always described him as her super hero.

Sad.

Once her family goes home back south she is almost all alone.

Sad.

It was only 2 months ago that he was first diagnosed

That is, as you say, so very sad. She really needs friends and support. She barely had time to get used to the fact he was going to die. Poor woman, I feel for her. :(
