May. 25th, 2018 08:25 pmHad an early release day today. 2 hours early. This is a perk from my boss's boss. I like him. I just wish he had another team here in Boston. Since I start at 6 I left at noon. Came home and took Dad to a local diner for lunch. We then went food shopping and I did 3 hours of yard work and then an ice-cream for supper... I iz tired.
The yard work consisted of cleaning up the bed I worked on a couple of weeks ago. I didn't work in the yard last week as I sliced my finger rather deeply. When I went out I find that the neighbor cut down stuff atom his yard and hacked more lilac push and left it all in my garden bed. I was not a happy camper. Dad dumped it back in their yard. I weeded and put in 10 tomato plants, a few flowers and then laid down 7 bags of mulch. I am hoping the mulch keeps down the weeds and holds some moisture. My soil sucks and the only thing holding it down is weed roots. I will feed the tomatoes. They liked it there last year so I am hoping for good results this year.
Tomorrow will be the L shaped boarder. Weeding planting some annuals and a broom plant. Maybe dividing some old dallies. Then mulch. Then on to planting the eggplant... I have fallen in love with a Chinese Eggplant recipe so I a want to make it on my own and I also want to make eggplant parmigiana. Hoping to do this work before rain comes in.
Sunday, if it is not raining I will move to the front door garden.
Kind of bummed that I could not do the art class thing this weekend due to the new doc bills, but it will be nice to have this work done.

Date: 2018-05-26 06:19 pm (UTC)I live in Fenland (drained marshes) and the soil is glorious. It's why this is the largest crop growing region in the country. Anything grows in the black peaty soil.
What a cheeky neighbour you have throwing his cuttings into your space!
