Apr. 22nd, 2018 05:50 pmSpent the day at Rockport. Had to go pick up the Shark painting.
The people of Rockport are very nice. 4 people offered me rides when they saw me walking to the museum with the portfolio case. I wonder if they are still nice in the height of tourist season? :-)
When I picked up my piece a lady asked me which was mine. I told her it was the White Shark. She asked if I was portraying my predatory nature... I laughed and said that the only thing I am predatory of is a Lobster roll ;-)
One shop keeper asked to see my art. Her shop had a very cohesive look to it...all ocean themed but in soft blues and gray matte tones. It looked great together...and I bought a few things... I said that while I have a sea theme I am all about contrast... she liked the shark, but we agreed it was not the look of her shop. Besides I am all about contrast..blue and orange are in a lot of my paintings. If I ever do anything muted I will go back.
Before going home I grabbed a lobster roll and flirted with the young fisher guys at the shop. They were funny and bored so we joked around for a bit.
I also hit a bead store and chatted with the shop keeper. She sells all types of beads and charms and teaches classes. She is open all year round...not sure how she does it, but when I am in town I visit the shop and buy something. We lamented about the craft stores taking over beading and selling cheap CRAP.. and how it tore the heard over non precious metal jewelry. I picked up some mermaid and whale charms to put on some wire bracelets and 2 stands of Kynite shards to string a necklace with.
