Jan. 2nd, 2018 08:36 pmThe oil company came tonight. They sent trucks out yesterday to get people oil early because of the arctic temps and the up coming Nor'Easter. Funny that it takes a blizzard to warm things up. Right now it is 16 degrees... that is warm and toasty compared to the last few days.
Today I finally received a new work PC. Things went well. I was shocked, but I know it was because they finally fired the guy that rescheduled me 6 times before Christmas. The only hitch is that it will not connect to my wireless network at home and I can't fix it. I am getting a security key question when I try to connect. I finally found that, but now it is telling me there is a problem with wireless adapter or access point. Last year an out of state friend was able to take a few hours and get this working on my old computer, but I don't know what she did... and the work tech people are saying that it is not their issue. Not great timing with a storm on it's way.
Today I also heard back about jury duty. I put in for a location change since they will be using shuttles on the local train service for the next 20 months and I could not tell if I could make it to a city about an hour away on a no traffic day. It is 1.5 hour drive in the AM...and there is no way to tell how it would work making a bus transfer, 2 train transfers, and then another bus ride of 39 bus stops and make it there before 8 AM. I am now at the court house in my city. They approved it as a hardship... I don't see hard ship, I see common sense. Don't make jury duty painful if it does not have to be. I don't mind serving... although the job may not like it.

Date: 2018-01-03 12:11 pm (UTC)I've never had to do jury service. I got called once, years ago, but we were moving house to another county so I didn't have to do it.

It was a right pain in the arse for me to have to drive into Cambridge when I served several years ago. And the other time I was called (I've been called three times, once in NH and twice in MA) I think they sent me to Natick?
