Nov. 13th, 2017 04:32 pmToday we had a trip to the Vet.
I was afraid I may have brought something home from the animal shelter. Vet said no.
Frankie is presenting with classic asthma symptoms. I didn't know cats could have Asthma The cat looks healthy and has a great attitude (the vet's words). No fluid in the lungs. No masses. Normal heart beat... The took blood to rule out infection. If that doesn't tell us anything I will take him back for x-rays. I didn't want to force Frankie to have X-rays today as they had to take blood from the jugular and he had an "attack" from that so we felt we should leave him be. The blood work should be back by the end of the week.
I have 2 meds for him. Clavamox in case there is an infection... and a steroid. Both are liquids. I have enough med experience fro my Shelter work to know what these do and how to administer. Frankie took the First doses like a trouper. He is really a good cat.
Hopefully we can figure out what is going on. I hope I don't need a Kitty go fund me.
And Frankie is purring in my lap so he does not hate me.

Date: 2017-11-13 09:45 pm (UTC)I was surprised at how well Brutus has put up with being pilled. It probably helps that the pill pockets cover the taste of the pills.
I don't think I knew cats could get Asthma either. But it makes sense to me, they can have other types of allergies.
