Good things
Oct. 17th, 2025 04:48 pmToday work ordered Chinese food for lunch. The place we found that would deliver to us had excellent food. Hot things were hot and crispy things were crispy. I suggested we order again the Friday after Thanksgiving.
I visited my friend today and she was 1000% better. No delirium. Bright and talkative. She knew where she was and didn't drop things. They changed her pain med cocktail and it worked. She said she finished her radiation and would be moved to the Spaulding Rehab hospital on Monday. There they will work on her standing and using her walker. She was hungry but did not eat her BLT because the bacon was rubbery. So no food restrictions (Dad has only had bacon once in 3 years) I went back down stairs and made her a small plate of Chinese food. She was very happy.
My Texas relatives leave Sunday morning.
Tomorrow I have a craft show at the senior center a few blocks from my house. They always cheer me up. This is just ceramics.
Sunday is a no cousin day...for real.
Next week is Dad's Birthday so he wants to go to New Hamshire so it will be another no cousin week.

Date: 2025-10-17 11:02 pm (UTC)HOORAY! I am very happy & relieved to read this. I'm sure you are too. It's insane how some medications or combos can really screw with your mental state. Similar problems happened to my maternal grandfather when he was in rehab/assisted living, and grandmother ("Nanna") was having her own issues with speech and swallowing, and she had this (annoying) habit of forgetting her words so it became a string of "I need the....thing....to do the....thing....at...some time...." it was heart wrenching. And my mom got early impatient with both of them so it was a lot of extra stress. (and now mom is showing some initial trouble with remembering words, so it's apparently a family trait. great)
Hooray Texas is leaving soon.
Yay for yummy Chinese food.
Yay for Craft Show! More for stuff that makes you happy!
seems like you're finally get a little break.
