It's only Wednesday

ravena_kadeOn Monday I came home from work and made dinner. It was Salad and a couple left over scallops from Dinner on Saturday. 25 minutes before I was to leave for the animal shelter I got sick...worshiped the porcelain god as they say. Hard enough that my ribs hurt and it's 5:00 AM Wednesday morning. Dad ate the same thing so the food was fine. Perhaps I need to stay away from fried foods. Staying away from fried food isn't such a bad thing. Just save it for my Ipswich Clams. It was another night of in bed at six and stay there until time to get up for work the next day.
Tuesday Dad was to be admitted to the hospital for observation while he preps for a colonoscopy. We had to wait 6 hours. He is like an impatient toddler. I am trying to call and find out times, but when you get a call from a hospital they use lines that you can't call back on. It is frustrating.
During the wait I decided to see how far Dad could walk so we toddled the 4 blocks down Francis Street to a bar called The Penguin. I have seen the sign almost every day since I started working at the hospital and they are a pizza bar in a huge college area so maybe it's good. Dad walked the blocks very well. The bar was tiny and cute with an open pizza kitchen in the back. I let Dad cheat (because today is no food) and he had a steak and cheese. I had pizza. It was very good. The bar tender was a college aged girl and was very nice. The guys making the pizza were about 40 years old. Both beefy guys with shaved heads ab=nd they watched the front of the house as they made pizza. I got the feeling that they would jump over the counter with their chef knives if anyone bothered the bat tender. It will be my place to hang when Dad is in the hospital.
We did not get. into a room until after 8. No one came to get us after we were told to sit in the waiting area. A nurse leaving for the night could see that we looked agitated and was going to get someone. I said it was okay...she should go home. I know she had a 12 hour shift. She saw my badge and said try and get in...the desk is around the corner from the door. They can't see you here. I said I worked at the bank so it shouldn't let me through. She said try...and it it doesn't work there is a bell keep ringing it. Oddly the ID worked. I told them that my Dad was coming in for observation. They said he isn't here yet. I said I know because he is here with me in the waiting area. We have waited 6 hours. We got seen. We got a room. I spoke with the intake nurse who paged the doctor for me so I could go home. The doc didn't come. Not surprised. I gave Dad his 9 am meds and told the nurse she didn't see that. She laughed. I wrote everything out. A cousin called Dad to see how he was and Dad told her that we just got in so she came to pick me up. and take me home.
At midnight my phone rings. I sleep with it by my head. I thought something happened. Nope just the doc just getting around to my Dad. This is why I wanted him admitted in the day. Day staff is different than the night. I said Im sorry you just woke me. Give me a second. Oi.
I am working for home today. I will have left over pizza for breakfast.

Crap, are all hospital/clinics like that? If I get a call from ours that's what happens too.
