Most days I am the first person in branch. Today the coworkers that come in next were all late. At 6:30 I hear Augustus tapping at the door 45 minutes early. Sigh...I don't like being alone with him. I had told the boss he made me very uncomfortable because his conversations are weird or just push my buttons.

Today he started ranting about the 2 workers that were not there yet. While he is ranting be blocked me into a corner...That makes me so uncomfortable. Sigh. I don't think he is in any position to talk trash. I have told him that before. He is rude to the customers and the coworkers called him on it. I said that they have a way of doing things and they work together well. It's hard being the new guy. His answer was that they are all stupid. He went to college so they are nothing. I put up my hand and said I don't want to hear that because I didn't go to college and neither did the boss. I have 40 years of corporate and worked 1 ob for almost 30 years and another for 10 so I don't want to hear that you are better because of college. If you have a problem you need to talk to the boss or go someplace else.

Part of me wants to say something to the boss, but if I do he will know that I am a rat. That and the boss has rubbed me the wrong way the last couple of days. I dont think she will do anything constructive.

I had a thought that you should have a knife on you, so next time he corners you, just whip that out and say OUTTA MY WAY

I agree with Palusbuteo- start carrying a knife. Like a good, stout bladed beast of a blade, and do NOT be afraid to use it if you need to. Keep it in an easily accessible place, and practice drawing it smoothly and slowly. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

dahhh as a boss, I'd still say talk to your boss. not that you're asking for advice. so if i'm out of place, throw this comment away, but you shouldn't be dealing with this BS. Maybe you can shroud it in the "Can I have some advice about dealing and getting my work done while this person is doing XYZ?" because then it's not tattling, it's asking for coaching, so wholesome!

When I was a new leader, 99% of the time when someone came to me with a person issue, I already kinda knew in my gut that they were a problem, just needed a second opinion to kick me over the edge and deal with it.

But you know what? If this mofo is making you feel unsafe, then go for the jugular. If your boss won't listen, go over her head. She's a knucklehead anyway.
