I had some good news this week. Dad's Cardiologist called and said that his stress test on Jan 16 went so well that they want to postpone the heart pump surgery for now. He still has congestive heart failure, but he is getting enough blood to his organs that they dont want to do such a major life changing surgery now. That is good for both of us. The computer part of the device has me frightened. Maybe we can take a couple of short weekend trips.

The not so good news is that my oldest cousin had a stroke. She is the one that does not live with her sisters. She had surgery last week to remove a gastric bypass band. She did well and was sent home. This morning a friend was checking on her and found her fave down on the floor. They figured she fell around 3:30 AM and her friend didn't find her until 9 AM. I just heard back from the lead cousin (her sister) and the diagnosis is a stroke. She is able to talk and her memory and cognitive part of the brain seem okay. She can move her right arm and right leg. Good. Get left arm and left leg are weak, but there is movement. The doctors say that is encouraging. They have her on a special med for a few days that won't allow her to be moved. Once she is done with that she will be moved to another facility. Right now she is in a Rhode Island hospital as it was the closest. Her family is freaking out because their brother died.3 weeks ago.

Dad and I are upset. If was sad that the contractor cousin passed, but we were not close... This cousin is our buddy. She is my Dad's casino amigo and partner in crime.

I don't believe these issues are hereditary. They are all because we eat crap food. Crap everywhere. Too much take out and fried things. I find that even if you try to eat okay the crap is pushed on you. Yesterday Dad brought home calzones from a work party (he had a salad). Then we went to a diner and the only thing that interested my was fried fish. Then today a customer of the bank made us all a special treat. I had no idea what it was buy the coworkers said it was great. I get home and it is cubes of fried pork belly...so much crispy fat...and I tried it and t was tasty...but it's like a treat attack in a box.

I hope this makes the other cousins think and not do take out like they do... that way Dad won't be surrounded by crap food as he is.

Next week Dad going in the hospital for 3 to 4 days. He is having a colonoscopy...the last test needed to pre approve him for the heart pump...in case he needs its. We had is scheduled and I did not want to cancel it. He is going in because the prep can cause his bp to drop so he needs to be watched.
