It's been a week. I started working before 5 am to catch up at work for being out and then Dad had 4 Doctor appointments... by the time I got home I just wanted to crawl into a warm bed.

After all of Dad's appointments they say he is a good candidate for the LVAD heart pump, but right now he is doing so well that they are going to pause the surgery. I guess the correct meds can do wonders. If he starts to fail due to low blood circulation then the pump surgery will be on. Frankly I hope he doesn't need it at all. Fingers crossed.

The final test is a colonoscopy. It is scheduled for February 6. They want to do the prep in the hospital as the prep can cause your BP to go wonky. They want him in 2 days before and will possibly keep him over night after the procedure. Works for me as I would be stressed out about the BP. I also won't need to bring in meals for him as he will be fasting.

This weekend is a long weekend for me. Saturday I want to spend the entire day clearing up the mess in the craft room. I had some bead storage boxes on an ironing board and Frankie jumped up on the board and all the boxes fell. There are beads everywhere.

Today I ran errands and made some chili for the cousins. They are very devastated over the loss of their brother. I also found out that nothing was in the brother's wife's name. The house. Any credit cards. The car. The house insurance. The banker cousin was able to get in touch with her work lawyer and he is going to help the widow get things straightened out. How sad. And rather weird for this day and age.

It's good you are there to help both your father and the cousins. They do live like they have all the time in the world!

Glad to hear about your Dad. correct meds can do a lot, yeah. Sounds somewhat similar to my Mom's dad when he was in assisted living in his final years and dealing with dementia. actually both he and Nanna had all sorts of problems with medications in their final years. It royally sucked and Mom was very upset & frustrated, it took a lot out of her.

sorry though to hear about the cousin's wife and situation. Ugh.

A friend on FB just lost her dad after several years in hospice (although it was a "relief" as the last 2 years had become exceedingly difficult for both of them. She had to then go through the house and sort through 50+ years of papers, cards, receipts etc and ended up with a big pile that became a bonfire in the backyard of a friend of her's who had a burn permit.

During the pandemic I had a sense of mortality and tried to create a "worst case scenario" list of mostly my (art and history) books that I have at my art studio, with places & people I'd like to see them go when I'm gone. Of course, if any of that is actually followed I won't be around to know about it but it's sort of....I dunno...."comforting"?....To have gone through and done that as it made me think it was hoping to "help" with whoever gets stuck with all my art shit. But yeah it's rough.

Fingers are crossed extra tight for you and your dad.
I would say it's a good idea for him to be in the hospital during the prep and test.

That does seem pretty weird that the wife's name was on nothing. :o
Hugs, Jon

Glad your dad will be in the hospital for the prep, the colonoscopy and after for a night, best to be safe.

Strange about the wife's name not being on anything, even jointly. I hope she's provided for in any will, or will inherit by the fact she is the wife.

i hope your dad looks on this as an extra encouragement to clean up his diet, maybe avoid the surgery. crossing my fingers for you both. i'm also really upset for your cousin's widow. my eldest brother finally had my mom's will redone (by a cousin) and it finally got signed. such a weight off.

That will be so much easier for you that the colonoscopy prep will be done in the hospital. Whew.
