Late last night the boss sent out an email telling the workers to put a sign on the door listing our Holiday hours. Since I am the first on in the morning I noticed that she has that we will close at 1 on Dec 23 and be closed all day Dec 24. A Mistake so I sent an email at 5:30 AM. I am up at 3:30 with Dad and waiting to start work until 6:30 gives me anxiety.
Later in the morning one of the tellers finally reads the email and spots the mistake... and he naively thought that the 1 PM was a mistake. He said that in our meeting a few weeks ago we said it would be noon. She came back with a NO in all caps. That we talked about it but she did not approve. She said that she knew we wanted noon but after doing research it has to be 1 pm. Oh for fucks sake . The answer should have been " I know we spoke and I know that you guys wanted to go home, but because of xyzzy (make up some shit) it needs to be 1 PM.
Then 20 minutes later she sends out an email that she has the next 2 Mondays off and all of Christmas week. She will be in on Tuesday the 17th for a company Christmas breakfast. In my head I hear Mel Brooks from the History of the World part 1 movie saying "It's Good to be the King"
I find it sad. a boss of a small place has the power to make things nicer by simple gestures. She could have said that 2 tellers could leave at noon on Christmas Eve and 2 could leave at noon on New Years Eve. That would have been nice.
Oh well. I give up.
She also said that she wanted her vacation before the craziness of January... yeah it will be crazy. I just hope I can get Dad's heart surgery done late in January...I prefer February.
