Oct. 20th, 2024 07:34 pmI was able to hook up the work laptop to the 34 inch monitor as well as the wireless mouse and keyboard. These are not hard things, but tech and I don't always get along. I was not able to sign on to work though. It looks like the power was shut off on my pc at work so my work laptop could not talk to the work desktop.
I see this as a problem. Sometimes we go into work and the computers have shut off and they need to be restarted. If this happens when I am remote I need to go in. I would have to rely on a coworker booting up my pc. I am uncomfortable with this as they are not allowed to work remote... I do not think it's fair that they have to help me be remote.
Perhaps when I start to work remote I should I sign on before 5 AM and if it doesn't work I could go in. I should ask the boss what she does.
All the lap tops I have had connected to a main drain via VPN. This sharing type software seems so backwards to me... but I have never worked at a company whose server could fit into a suitcase before.
Tomorrow I will have double the work now because off my vacation day on Friday. Since the new guy can't be trusted I cannot train him as my back up for when I am on vacation. Its funny how I can't be outage same time as my boss, but she will not back me up. I think it's ironic that I ended up in a job with no back up again. Sigh

But then again I don't know computers that well. :o
