Elder-sitting

Today I elder-sat my Aunt. She was very good. She drank and ate. We did word search games together. At 12:30 a personal care person came in and gave her a shower. After we watched some movies. The both of us had never seen Forrest Gump so we watched that. I am very impressed that she can focus enough to follow all the subtitles. I found out from the cousin with cancer that no one in the house has slept in 4 nights. It seems that if my Aunt falls a sleep/takes a nap she wakes up off the wall. Her doctors think the rehab stay triggered dementia. They gave her some meds 4 days ago and it has made her worse. She fights with the 2 healthy daughters and has started hitting them in her agitated state. They have a call into the doctor to see if they can adjust the meds more. The sick cousin stayed in her room and slept while I was there. The sisters came home around 4:30. One said Hi and when they sat in the recliners in the living room they both fell into a deep sleep. I let them sleep until 6:30. I had to wake them up so I could leave. I had been there since 10:30. It was a long day. I do hope that they can regulate the meds. If the girls can't sleep or she keeps hitting them they will not be able to keep her at home. It's a sad situation.

I am so sorry to that things are so rough for everybody at the moment. :(
I hope they can adjust her meds to help.
I was so glad that dad's dementia stayed a happy dementia, other then one day/moment. :o
