The boss was on vacation the last half of last week. This week she is out sick. She went to Carnival down in Provincetown and caught COVID. She checks in with me today and says she is sorry if I feel abandoned. What should I say?...She has COVID. I am happy she stayed home. Once again she says I should be training myself and asks if I have a list of things to do for Month End. Yes, I have 2 tasks for last day of the month, then first day of the month there are 13 reports. Then I wait for statements and update 4 reports and then do the month end accounting.
I think my plan will be to do each thing and then ask her to check them... If I have questions call or text, then I will wait for her answers. I won't use email. And I will make her either feel accountable to answer me or feel guilty. She does not have any idea how to train and no time to sit with me proper...LIKE I HAVE TRAINED PEOPLE FOR YEARS. When I go back and look at the months she has done all I find are errors and then I spend hours second guessing myself. I know in the end this will be good for me...I want to be able to put this on a resume so I can pick up part time book keeping work at 65.
I also want a laptop. I would be happy to get a ton of the month end reporting done on a weekend so I can finish early and take PTO. I also may see if I can do the one or 2 days from home as the new Guy Augustus is really really annoying and a distraction. Today he shoved my chair while I was in it about 20 times. The supply cabinet is behind me and he refuses to wait for me to just get up so he can go ib the cabinets. He is a big guy...I don't mind giving him space, but he got mad when I tried to move out of the way. The others want him fired. I am surprised he hasn't been with how he talks to customers. I can't say much because I worry that I will be let go because I can't train myself. It annoys me that this mush isn't fired and has 3 people to train him...and I have no-one to train me.
At least the other 3 workers are nice and I don't mind actually being in the office.
