Yesterday I had my two elder friends over to enjoy some deck time. I hadn't seen them since May because every time I tried to visit they were busy. I saw them Sunday and they were talking about how they could not go out on their balconies because of the heat this summer. I asked the one with the walker if she could do 3 stairs. I was assured repeated that she could do 3. So the plan was made for a light dinner and some wine.

Friday comes and they arrive. I went to help my friend up the stairs and when she put her foot on the porch floor she collapsed on top off me and I fell down the 3 steps. She was on the floor of the porch. I broke her fall so she was fine, just embarrassed. I was fine...ish... just stunned. I tried to help her to her feet 3 times. She is about 160 pounds and that is out of my dead lift range these days (My Mom was only 120lbs) I had her hold on to me and I rose from the floor...each time I got her up her legs gave out and I grabbed her and lowered her back down so she didn't fall. We were 10 feet from the sofa and there was no room for a chair on the porch. I ended up calling the fire department. They arrived in 3 minutes. No alarms/sirens. @ burly guys picked her up and brought her to the sofa. I recognized the 2 from the last 911 call I had with Dad. They checked her out and asked if she needed to go to the hospital. She said no as she didn't hurt anything and in 4 minutes she walked to the bathroom with her walker and they we were out on the deck drinking wine. I had made grilled shrimp cocktail and deviled eggs. They stayed until 9 and then headed home.

I have a few bruises today, but they did not stop me from going to Ipswich to Crane's beach. It was a lovely day to walk a beach. I was a tad disappointed that I did not find any sand dollars, but that is probably the universe telling me that I need to finish my art project with the sand dollars before it will give me new ones.

The only meh thing was that the power boards are every where. OMG. For 2 hours all I hear was the constant roar of engines...and these engines are as tall as I am. It was line lawn mowers on the waves non stop. Also the wake that is made artificially changes how the water hits the shore. I wonder if the sand dollars are affected by this?

sorry to hear about the fall but glad you were able to work with it as you did and got help with the FD without making a big scene.

But also glad you got to spend time with friends out on the deck. it was one helluva nice day today.

the power boards are every where.

I feel this way about the jet skis on the river. They're a nuisance that spoil things for others.

i trained karate for nearly a decade and worry every day that my mom (at ~160) is too heavy for me to help. i'm glad you called for help and i'm glad they came pretty fast with no fanfare! <3
