Aug. 18th, 2024 10:37 amYesterday I had planned to go to Rockport with my Dad and his sister, my favorite Aunt. She loves to shop in the shops and her husband does not like to do that. He just sits in the car. Dad doesn't walk that far so I left him on strategic benches.
I had a really nice conversation with a new photographer to the area. I loved a black and white she did...so much I bought a small print of it on a square block. I didn't think I had room for the bigger one... but after coming home I may have found a spot and I may go back. The image is best in a horizontal rectangle. The cropping cuts some of the drama. We talked for 30 minutes while my aunt puttered around the shop. I recognized the places of some of her photos...some were right next door to the shop. She had her editing studio in the shop...smart. Yes, I was a bit jealous too.
Funny I bought a new camera too and have not been out shooting as my train commutes have been overwhelming and the learning the editing process all over again has been low on my list since work is filled with trying to learn new reporting. Fall is coming. I hope to get out and shoot. Winter is a good time to learn editing. That and maybe I can take the editing class I wanted to. Kitty's vets bills kept me from doing that this summer.
We puttered around and she was happy. Dad likes to people watch so I could leave hime for a bit on a bench with a cookie. There were points where the sidewalks were uneven enough that I looped my arm through my aunts and helped her keep steady in her feet.
I took her to the museum there and we looked around before I rejoined. This was the place where I exhibited a painting. It was funny, but I certainly felt an eneergy there that told me I have to DO ART. My Aunt asked me about what I was working on and I said nothing really. Doing all the house things for Dad and a 3 hour commute isn't the best. She really listened to me...that was nice.
When I rejoined the volunteer mentioned the membership level were you could exhibit any time... then a manager came out of the woodwork and said that that level of membership needed to go through a juried process and it only happens once a year. I thought Art Cop ...funny. She said that the guidelines are on the website and it happens in September. I thanked her and paid for my standard membership. As we left my Aunt was chatting about how I should use that as a goal for next year. I really like this Aunt. It's a good challenge. I will look up the guidelines.
