Jul. 19th, 2024 07:46 pmYesterday was my first leave at 3 PM day. The commute was great because just as I was leaving I saw the cousins leaving the building and they gave me a ride.
The cousin with cancer was walking on her own with a walker. Good. I was shocked a bit when I saw her because I have only seen her sitting in a recliner for months now. Her body has taken on the same shape as my Mother's. If I saw her from behind I would have thought it was my Mother. When I see her fave she looks like my Aunt that passed in 2021. Chemo is a hard thing to survive.
The good news is that her cancer numbers are so low that if this was another type of cancer they would call it remission. This cancer doesn't go away. Her main issue now is that she needs to get rid of the RSV. Hard to do when the chemo kills your immune system and the cancer is in your white blood cells. She needs to eat, but the RSV congestion makes her not want to and the chemo kills your taste buds. Taste buds are a fast growing/replacing type of cell that is similar to the cancer so the taste buds also get killed with the chemo.

Also good to hear that your cousin's cancer numbers are good. I hope she can work through the RSV and lack of taste buds.
