I am not feeling particularly proud of my country right now. If I was alone I would have stayed in my garden all day.

This morning I was up at 6 and pulled the pork (no, not another naughty euphemism, I put in the crock pot last night. I went out to garden and spent 3 hours getting the front of the house pretty much finished. It looks nice.

We headed over tp the cousins. I figured they were all tired from all the medical visits that the cancer cousin has so I said I would make dinner. I bought a $27 pork butt and made the pulled pork. I get there and they have done a full BBQ. I don't know why I bother. I took most of it home. I am happy that it freezes well so it won't go to waste.

For most of the afternoon the sick cousin stayed in her room and napped (as expected...chemo wipes you out). The 95 year old aunt and the 2 other sisters slept in their recliners. The oldest sister, that does not live there, whispered that she hates this. I asked her if she wanted to go someplace and talk. She hates that all they do is binge watch simplistic TV shows...she rarely watches TV at home..and if she wants to watch something else they yell at her saying that this is all the 95 year old can focus on. Then they yell at her for not forcing the 95 year old to drink... I told her I would not FORCE her either. I expect them to water board her soon. They are either yelling or sleeping. She goes over to help and so there is a second car there. I told her that she could talk to me any time. I understand. I want to help, but I am not coming here to do nothing either. We left at 5 PM. I asked Dad if he wanted an ice cream... so we went for a ride to get one.

I have to work tomorrow. I wish the credit union was closed. The boss has off...bosses always take the bedtime off. It's a thing.

Ugh, that indeed doesn't sound like much fun.

you offered to do dinner and they went ahead and did their own. Jeeze.
but yes glad that the pork freezes so it's not a total waste for you

WOW, That was maddening of them to BBQ after you told them you would bring food. ARGH............

Good of you to be there for the one sister.
Sounds like she could use it, and so could you. :)

What a weird year to celebrate the 5th, ugh. I had/have not much to celebrate. Sigh.

Visiting your relatives doesn't sound like much fun. Maybe spend a little bit less time there? Or let Dad go by himself so you get a break? (Although I know that means he'll eat something he shouldn't, so maybe not a break after all.....)

You are right. Visiting isn't much fun. I go because I want Sunday's tp be Dad day, but he wants to go there. I have given up on getting Dad to eat healthy when he visits. If he croaks visiting it's not my fault. I told the oldest cousin that I am not going every week anymore. I started because we had ceramics class...I like teaching. Then I thought I could help run diversion with the elder aunt, but now no one is even awake. I'll go every other week... part of me doesn't want to not show up because the aunt and the cousin won't be here forever.

It's not like you never see them, you visit all the time.

Take some time for yourself. Do things that bring you joy, not bring you down. You deserve it.
