May. 23rd, 2024 07:09 pmSo...
Monday I receive a text at work from the friend who owns the ceramic shop. On Saturday she was working a charity plant sale and a rack holding handing plants let go and Gell on her hand. She was cut badly and the wound blend for 4 hours before she had medical people look at it (after the plant sale) She broke a knuckle, needed 8 stitches and bruised her hand so bad it is black right uo to the fingernails. Sunday she attempted to play piano at her church job...attempted. She calm me Monday to see if I could go to the ceramic shop and take out the molds that she had poured on Thursday and Friday. She tried to do it herself but couldn't bend her hand enough to hold a mold. I went down and took care of things. I know she was desperate in asking me. Her work area was laid out poorly and was a mess. I brought my own tools... I like to think I am a craftsperson and I have had my custom fettling tool for 40 years (It is a miracle that I haven't lost it. While I worked my brain toyed with ways to make the space more organized... and safe... it certainly isn't safe by any OSHA sense. It's too bad she won't let me do some casting for her. I am good at it.
Dad told me that on Saturday he punctured the inflatable spa. Great. Bah. I ordered a new one. $500, but it's a nice to have in the summer. I thought I had some money so I make the purchase.
Thought I had money... Then Tuesday....
Tuesday morning I get up and Frankie has abraded his neck and there was blood on it. The last time he did that was just before Dad had his heart emergency. I tried to make a vet appointment but I could not get anything so when I came home I had Dad take me to the animal emergency hospital. 7.5 hours later and a bill for $1000.00 confirmed that Frankie had an ear problem. There were no mites, but there is an ear infection. Blood tests show an elevated white cell count. The vet, who was very nice and thought Frankie was the sweetest boy, thinks it is allergies. She gave him an antibiotic injection that lasts for 2 weeks, a shot of steroilds, and I have an ear wash. I also have to change his food, avoiding chicken and seafood. Oi. She shaved his neck to check out his skin and cleaned it. Kitty feet in kitty litter scratching can cause other infections. Oh Boy.
Wednesday I go to work with just 2 hours sleep. Quite the zombie. It sucks being pushed out of a job where I actually had PTO. I would have called in Wednesday if I were at the old job.
This weekend I have a ton of chores that need to be done outside...so much that when I make a list I get overwhelmed. What I really want to do is go to the beach. IT's hard now that I don't have any physical help. Dad is thinking of paying a young guy he works with to clean out his junk in the cellar as I just can't do it. Dad really doesn't have the money to do that with his $900 prescription... but I can't do it...
