Today I went in to work and we had no internet. All the computer's...all 6, run using wifi. No one but the boss has a laptop. There is no business continuity at al.. Oi.

Turns out the laptop is not an independent laptop. It is a your pc anywhere type thing, so if the desk top doesn't work then the laptop doesn't work. Kind of dumb...but then I have worked in much larger financial institutions.

The coworkers do not understand any of this and kept trying to access our applications...that are all web based. No comprehending that you need an internet connection to use a web based application. We couldn't even access the shared drive... which I why I store my notes and things on my c drive.

The coworkers wanted to go home. I said if that happens they will make you use a pro day. Do you want that? If it was a sunny day in July I would. Not a chilly day in April. I had people cleaning the office...it was filthy.

Turns out a switch to our server burnt out so it needed to be replaced. We were back up and running just after 11.

The boss sent me an email around 1. Her Mom had to come back into the hospital Saturday night because one of the stints had a blood clot in it and she had another heart attack. Yesterday they said that the Mother had C-Diff and she didn't want to tell me yesterday when I was talking to her because she knew that's what my Mom died from. She said that once they got through today she would say more. That sounded odd... She also said she could be contaminated herself.

I hope she stays away from the office for 2 weeks.

Sadly I don't think I will ever get the training I need... things just keep happening. Welcome to Albatross Credit Union.

Funny thing is I didn't mind cleaning today. I like being somewhat useful.

Tomorrow the cousin is back in the hospital for a procedure that injects a binder into her vertebrae to help fix the fractures in her back so she can get targeted radiation on the lesions on her spine. I'll help the sister get her in and then help them get home.

What a great idea to clean during that down time, especially as it sounds like it really needed it.

I didn't know your bosses mom was that bad off, heart attack and now this complication, how sad. Sad for your poor training too.

it's terrible, but "Albatross CU" made me laugh. then again, i'm concerned for you basically having to run the damn place when you've only been there a few weeks.
