As of today I have earned 26 hours of PTO...but I will loose 8 because of Patriot's Day this Monday. I have put in for a couple days off in June, but the boss has not approved them yet.

One of my reports caught a mistake where one of the service reps voided out the wrong check. I went to the rep who is being groomed to take over the bosses place in 10 years and we figured out what happened. I told her I was sorry for not knowing the workflows for the checks and such. If I did it would be easier to identify the issues. She said I was doing fine and that I explain what I see in a very thorough manner. I told her that she made me feel better about things. I also glossed over what the boss said the other day. She swore in Spanish and said that the boss has no filter sometimes.

Found out that the rep who usually works alone in our other branch is a foodie whose family lived in Italy. The family business is a perfume shop in Tuscany ...and the relatives are looking to sell it. (sounds like a Hallmark movie could be made from it...American woman falls in love with Tuscany, buys the perfume shop and falls in love with a local...and lives happily ever after). He was the only child out of 9 that was not born in Italy and has always lived here. Last night he made pasta by hand and fresh tomato sauce. I told him about my adventures with making fresh sauce with yellow tomatoes. It tricks your brain a bit as yellow makes you think of a squash. This year I want to grow purple tomatoes and make sauce. I told him I would bring him in some tomatoes for him to try.

It's funny that my coworkers are all young enough to be my children. Today the conversation was all about Willy Wonka...the Gene Wilder version, not the new one. They were amazed at how much I could quote. I told them I would be kind and not break into song... My sister and I could sing all the musical numbers.

You’re going to buy a perfume shop in Tuscany?
Cool…

A perfume shop in Tuscany sounds idyllic. It's a lovely part of Italy.
I've never seen an actual purple tomato, purple carrots yes, but not tomatoes.

Your workplace sounds healthy I am glad others have encountered your boss in that way.

I am currently using 16 hours of PTO which gives me a 4 day weekend. YAY...
Signed up for a week over July 4th.
Need to sign up for some time over the state fair, and election day, I wanna stay home and be happy or be really sad. Also need to sign up for Jan 22. Just got notice that the Areosmith concert has been rescheduled for that day. UGH... Just my luck we will have a snow storm and I won't be able to go. :o

"Babies" don't know what they are missing by being born now.
The Classics are so much better. :)
Hugs, Jon
