ravena_kadeToday work was just what I wanted it to be. Lots of interaction. The boss was in and I feel I work well with her. I am finding the the previous bookkeeper dropped some balls. I am by no means a bookkeeper yet, but I can analyze a situation and I know how to pay bills because I own a house.
The boss had an interview with a man for a teller position. She had him sit with the tellers, like she did with me, so people could get a feel for each other. It's a tiny place...like 12 x 12..so if people don't like someone it will be miserable. When he left she asked people their thoughts. She had to do a phone meeting so the coworkers continued the conversation without her They asked my opinion. I thought that was nice. I do not know anything about being a teller except I don't want to be one...because people suck. They said that since we are a small team it does matter what I think. They also said that they had the same conversations about me. They want someone who will stay for more than a year and who will help and not say "It's not in my job description" Oh do I understand that. I gave them my thoughts. I thought he seemed nice. He seems book smart. He seemed a little nervous...but it's a job interview. Did he say anything that would make them think he was competitive? Yes. He came out and asked Aide just what her position was and why wasn't she a teller. And he talked a lot. He talked over her. Did Aide feel she could real him in and train him? Then I was asked if I felt I could reel him in...the boss would like me to train someone to be my back up in the future. Sure...I have trained mean people and he does not seem mean. If he want's to compete well...go for it. I don't care. I just don't do lazy. He doesn't seem lazy. He just seems like someone who is tired of the cut throat corp jobs. This is pretty sleepy.
I felt pretty good that the people on my team like me. It's been a while since I have had that. I just wish the boss was in more than once a week so I can be trained faster. I did say that there are many things I need to have a dialog about in order to learn and that I want to do that on the phone when she is not in. I want to schedule training meetings as I need to be fully competent by the last week in July as she is out.
