People are really pushing me to like this job...strongly pushing, almost feels like a pre bullying. It's hard. I do feel safe (I have not felt safe at 2 jobs) and the people are nice. But it is spreadsheets.... It is a pay check. It has potential. I see that. I wanted the senior center job...so much I could taste it. So much I want to go to the center and ask why not. So much that Shen they posted the last Wednesday they had alpacas visit and onThursday they ran a Jimmy Buffet party I cried.
Last week I worked 4 days. The boss never came in. The trainer just trains me on morning functions and then went on to type notes. I worked from 7 to 10:30 and then just sat there until 3:30. He leaves the credit union on Wednesday. I was sick with a head cold all week (I tested for Covid and each time a negative result) and it was super hard concentrating when I could not breathe and my mask fogged up. I believe that I can do this part, but I haven't a clue how to do the month end reporting which I start on Friday. I found a spreadsheet listing the reporting and there are about 100. Oi. If the boss doesn't show up then I won't be able to do it. I hope she shows up more when my trainer leaves as she is the one I really connected with. What bothers me is that this trainer is a lot smarter than I am. He was a college level language teacher that lost his job...he taught Irish Gaelic, but los his job so because a bank teller and then ended up here as a book keeper. He has only been here since June. What I offer is that I am a hard worker and will stay longer than 7 months as long as I am treated right.
Tomorrow I want to work at my desk on my own and see how far I get. My head is clearer so I hope I can navigate better.
The trainer did help me find a better place to catch the shuttle home. If I get to that stop I get a seat. That and this bus driver is so aggressive we get to my redline stop in 25 minutes if there are no accidents. The rest of theme is on the train...and because of the issues that is over 40 minutes. When they fix the trains it should be back to the normal 9 minutes. That should be in 2025.
One day at the morning shuttle the commuter rail train pulled in before the redline train. All the hospital workers on my train ran from the train to the bus. That is up 2 flights of concrete stairs and down another 2 flights and everyone was pushing. I managed a seat at the back of the bus. There was a bigger person sitting a seat away from me so the empty space between us was about 7 inches. A lager person comes down and sits on me... and they smelled like acid salami. I felt my stomach lurch. I squawked to get up. "Look, if you step back I'll get up and give you the seat...just et me up". Oi.
This week I my first full week. I'm hoping it's a good one.

Date: 2024-02-26 12:17 pm (UTC)So is the trainer supposed to be doing more with you? Do you think if the boss was in more, you'd actually get training you need? I find it odd that you're in your first couple weeks, and they have you not training more than just the opening routine.
I have a soft spot for the elder population. Before this job I am at now, I had applied to be an activities coordinator at a local senior home facility, but it didn't work out for me either. Luckily I landed on another job I also love, but I was so frustrated when the senior job didn't work out.

Date: 2024-02-28 02:49 am (UTC)The trainer had today off so she came in and sat with me... Lots of rapid fire questions and stuff... I'll get it, but I should have either started back in Feb first or she should have trained me from the get go. It is a moot point now. She is going to come to work in the mornings and train me then leave around 11 to get home and work.

I hope you are feeling better right quick.
The place does not sound overly organized. :o
I hope boss person will come in and get you trained on the things you need to know.
If not, it's on her for the job not being done. :o :o :o
HUGS, Jon
