My friend DQ had nose surgery yesterday. She had cancer in the area where your nostril is. There was a concern that they would have to remove that part of the nose and use her earlobe to make a new part of the nose. Oh my.

I decided that I would bring lunch to Evie, her roommate, who is disabled. I figured I could be with her while the surgery was going on and I would bring lunch. I decided to make lobster rolls... now that I have a job I thought it would be a nice treat...and I brought over enough so that there would be rolls for DQ when she came home and for her cousin who drove her home.

I ended up buying 3 lobsters from my local fish monger...yes, there is a fish guy here who is not at the supermarket. His lobsters are superb. They come from Nova Scotia. It was not cheap, but they were delicious. The only thing is that the Nova Scotia lobsters had really hard shells. It took over an hour to break them down. I needed a mallet to crack the crusher claws. Oh my. I wont squawk about the price of a lobster roll anymore ;-) I make a warm lobster roll with butter and a little tarragon. Dad like his cold, so I saved a bit of lobster for him and made a cold lobster salad. So this was my first lobster of the season.

I spent a chatty day with Evie. I have known both of these women since 1980 and everyone in the housing complex thinks they are my aunts so I was able to go in when they had the Covid lockdowns. Sadly she told me that she has decided not to have heart surgery as her lungs wont take it. She is disabled from severe asthma and COPD. She has an embolism on her heart and one day it will just let go. She has an echocardiogram last week and it is getting bigger. I asked if she knew what would happen. She did as she saw her sister die from it. You just seize for a moment and you are gone. The heart bursts open. If lucky you go to sleep one night and it happens while you are asleep. She could pass any day or last years. No one knows...but the time gets closer the bigger it gets. Sad.

DQ came home earlier than I thought. She did really well. They did not have to take any of her ear. I made her and her cousin their lobster rolls. DQ hadn't had anything to eat since 8 PM the night before. After she ate I went to the pharmacy to pick up her meds. I will check in on her this afternoon.

you're a good kid, Jen. <3 glad DQ's ear survived and i hope they got all the cancer. <3 and good luck getting into work if you guys get this snow they keep talking about.
