I had a phone interview with a bank in South Boston. The job posting sounding like it was just what I was doing for the last 10 years. The pay was the same as well. When I spoke to the director she started with What made you pick our bank? She was reading a script and sounded nervous. I looked her up on line and knew that she has only been at the bank since June. When we started speaking the job no longer sounded like an operations analyst. Right now there are only 3 people doing operations last for this credit union. Her task is to take the operations tasks that are boing done in the branches and actually create an operations team. The job she is interviewing for is someone who will help with all that, be the back up for the director when she is out. Learn all the functions and write all the procedures and train. I have enough common sense and experience that I could give it a good try... and if I was 15 years younger I would relish the challenge, but at a pay that has me owning a house, but not a car... I think they are low balling it a bit. I asked her a few questions too. About their systems...did they have an IT department that ran the reporting and such. Where were the servers located? Turns out they use a common internet program that many credit unions use. They don't believe in remote work (pity as that is the most economical way to set up a back office operations team and they will not attract smart young people). The woman has a few more interviews to do and will make her decision next week.

All in all it sounds like it would be challenging but.... maybe too much work for this 58 year old. Not sure. If I did decide to take it I would negotiate for the higher end pay. I know some people that would be great at this and the lowest they would take would be 60k to 70k. I think I would be stressed. It would be great financially. We shall see. I cant really talk about it with family as I really think my Dad would have me turning tricks just to make money...

I have another interview on Monday with one of the hospitals.

And when I got back from Lunch the Senior center emailed me about a job they would like to talk to me about. It is an assistant to the activities director. I cant fathom why that person would need an assistant unless she is having another child, but whatever. It also is 100% in the office and I would be working with the residents. Most f the jobs I am looking at do not have remote days. Bummer. I have a phone call set up for Tuesday. If it is the same pay that the office assistant job was I will take it if offered. If its under then I may not be able to do it for more than a year or 2. Their benefits package is gold key as far as I am concerned. And maybe I could do their ceramics classes.

I can see how working with elderly can't be remote. Until we get better robots...

If you're going to be backing up the director and forming a new team? Definitely negotiate for more money, because that sounds like a lot of responsibility. But it also sounds like something you'd be good at, with all your past experience.

Good luck!
