ravena_kadeSo Last night I am at the shelter and the young PHD person asks me why I just don't retire? I said because I am not 65. She wanted to know why I would bother looking for a job at 58. I should have enough money.

Date: 2023-12-12 06:45 pm (UTC)friend of mine who's working on his PhD in Public Policy & Mass Transit is struggling to find entry-level work right now.
Even the MBTA is ignoring him, despite having spent 2 years in Puerto Rico through the State Dept. studying road infrastructure & design there after the hurricanes, etc....So it seems like this weird in-between of "over"qualified and "lacking previous industry experience"
The mind boggles.
