Nov. 22nd, 2023 05:56 amYesterday I had a meeting with the career counselor. I told her about the interview and how positive it was. I told her my time concerns and ask if negotiation 2 days a week to be to 5 or 4:30 would be valid. We went over it and she thought that I should negotiate if offered the job.
She also said that I didnt have to take the first job offered to me. That businesses are in a bind because no one wants to work... I hate hearing that. I don't have any healthcare. I have sent out 50 applications in 3 weeks in industries I have experience in. I am even willing to go in the office 5 days a week. I am willing to take a $500 a month pay cut. My experience is business operations, but businesses are looking for unicorns. They only want to hire people who have done that exact job before for years. Many want you to be fluent in another language now. Fluent like to do customer service with non English speakers, nit just my ability to read French. She also says that the holiday time is a perfect time to ask friends and family to help you get a job because everyone loves to help people... Let me introduce you to my cousins...who won't even give me an HR contact at a company I could fir in easily for the next 7 years. Oi.
On other notes, I took dad to get a new lease car. I hate the whole car dealership process. I had to go with him to write the check and sign the papers for the lease. This car is also so new it has no keys. Great. I've had to show him twice how to start the car remote. Im thinking he wont use that feature. He thinks he did me a favor because the car color is Mars Orange. I just think it's funny.
Today I have to deal with another medication snafu. He is almost out of fluid pills. This is because he has been taking 5 to 8 a day. When I tried to reorder it would go through, but then cancel. I tried to call but was on hold hours. I went to the pharmacy and they said it was because the prescription says 1 pill a day and he isn't due to January. I said the doc said to take 5 to 8 pills a day after he was in the hospital. The pharmacy claims that the hospital should have given him another prescription. Why when there are 4 refills and a fluid pill is not a narcotic. So I need to call today and see if anyone will get me a new prescription... or else Sunday I have to bring him in to the ER so he doesn't drown in fluid. This sucks. Big pharmacies ran the small ones out of business and now it's so hard to get medicine. It was too late to call last night and no one is open until 8 today.

Date: 2023-11-23 12:09 am (UTC)Here I get them for 100 pills, but sent out in 30 pill batches and you never seem to get the last 10 pills.
So you pay for them but never see them. ARGH....
An orange car, huh? lol......

Date: 2023-11-23 03:25 am (UTC)I am sorry.
I also agree the whole job situation is pathetic, and I'm so tired of hearing the stupid "people don't want to work anymore". it's really because they don't want to pay anymore. So yeah fuck you too CEO.
Maybe if you hadn't driven out the business manager and forced the other coworkers without experience to take up the slack so you could save a few bucks as you're cooking the books, you wouldn't have to look for the magical unicorn that will replace that worker who left, doing exactly the same things they did before they left. It's not like plugging in a coffee pot and it magically works.
I was really kinda hoping for a sort of mass "revolt" against Big Pharma and the corruption in health care in the US following the pandemic, but no, we just keep letting them harm us for profit.
As for the car, mine also has a remote starter but I refuse to use it.
Although somewhat recently when it's been really cold, I'd been thinking maybe if I start it up remotely as I get off the train, it'll be a little warmed up by the time I get into it.
I admit, I really like having a physical key to turn/crank the engine on.
It feels really weird having to push a "Start" button. I keep feeling like I'm forgetting to do something.
(I've borrowed/driven friend's cars and a rental with a start button)
