ravena_kadeI had the job interview yesterday. It lasted an hour and a half.
I asked questions, they asked questions. It was cheerful and positive.
I met the activities director. She has been there 9 years and new the ceramic teacher I know. I referenced the classes and how I was a certified ceramic teacher in case any help was needed. Talked about the upcoming trips and classes I had read about and showed a genuine interest in what was going on. (because arts and crafts for elders is something I wanted to get into, but my heart would break in a nursing home after what happened with Ma...not said, or course).
I asked about the Day to Day. All the book keeping is stored in the cloud. That's why it can be done remote.
My quick books for dummies came in the mail so I will be pushing up on that. I believe all I need is the account numbers and shown how to post. I asked about month end and year end accounting activity. When is crunch time for audits and taxes. Let them know that while I don's have Quick Books in my tool box yet, I know office management. I asked if there were any written procedures that are kept on hand to use for submitting for grants. I have experience in procedures and have gathered data for grants. She is looking for grants for food .
I sold myself as best I could. Friendly with office experience and knowing and caring for a senior population.
The 2 I met seemed nice, but young. They both started in building management for the building and then moved over to the Senior Center and want to stay for 20 years. Okay. Rare for young people, but they basically do what they want. Cool. They both come from another financial bracket than I do. They have summer houses in Maine (from their parents). They pretty much take the same vacation time every year. Their kids are not school age.
It's a tiny office. The size of y living room. I understand why a good personality fit is needed. I may be too much personality. They do get tenants coming in for requests and some who just need someone to talk to. My personality is good for that. They may just find someone younger who they would get along with better.
