ravena_kadeTwo weeks ago a young cousin asked if I would do a photo shoot of her family. She did it 5 years ago but the friend who dod it doesn't do photography anymore. I said pick a date and I would just do it for her. I asked where she would like to do it and she gave me a place. She picked today as the family all works different days. I went to the spot yesterday with Dad and did some test shots that came out nice...I put them up on face book and had compliments so I do know what I am doing.
Today it rained. Of course. The young cousin booked a conference room at the library just in case. Good planning. The room was just too small for 8 people and the light was terrible. =(
The real problem was the 5 year old nephew. He just did not behave and would scream and scream. The boy is very immature. He acts like he is 3 instead of 5. This is mostly because they didnt send him to any day care or and can't send him to public preschool or kindergarten because they need someone to give him insulin shots. In first grade the public school system should have a nurse on staff for that, but right now he has no social skills.
It was sad as his grandfather dressed him in a suit and tie and they said he was good all day, but in the new location he just started kicking and screaming because he wanted his way. They buy is not on the spectrum...I have worked with kids on the spectrum... I photo's kids on the spectrum with Santa and emotional support dogs...so I have had experience. The grandfather was very disappointed. The parents started getting mad. The cousin that asked for the photos was trying so hard to get the family together. This is my family so I know them. The grandfather is my Contractor Cousin that built the deck. He is teh brother to the other cousins. The whole family is so dysfunctional. I am not surprised.
What bothers me is that insisted on paying me... paying me well. I didn't want it. I could not get anything beyond a snap shot. The cousin that asked for the pics just wanted something nice for the family. I feel bad for her...and I feel like crap taking the money. I didn't want to get paid because I was just taking picks for her and giving her the disc to edit herself. I just wanted them to take me lunch when I was out of work.

but after mentally chewing on it feel better for who I am and the relationship I do have with my family...and it is not that weird.
