So I got my resume back. I had written one and they were supposed to tweak it after I had a conversation about my duties. In this conversation I said that I could be very analytical and detail oriented. AS an example I used a big fraud case that I discovered in 2019. My purpose was to show how I heard something on the news...put 2 and to together to know the incident would be coming and to demonstrate that I care about what I do and the outcome. I listed my reconciliations and how this also required a detailed orientated person, etc. She said that maybe I could get a job as a fraud person. I said no because Fraud Analysts are customer service phone reps that get calls from the public about suspected fraud on their statements. I do not want phone work.

What they titled the resume Fraud Specialist and only played up the fraud part of my work with the ATMs.
To me this means that the resume will only work if I am looking for a fraud job. I am not. I find this irksome.

I know that I am not stuck with anything. I can tweak it myself.

I just find that no one listens.

My goal is a job with healthcare and flexibility that will allow me not to loose my house. I need a resume that describes my skills but does not stuff me into any one thing.

The hard part is that I dont want an office job. =( want to make things.

To whom did you give your resume? An outside firm, or your employer's "relocation" team? If they can't tweak it to your benefit they are in the wrong effing biz. :(

Not being heard - not listened to - is so frustrating!

I hope you manage to get your resume to reflect you and what you want better. It's infuriating not being listened to.

All the resume advice I've seen says that you're supposed to tweak your resume for the job you're applying for. So I have a "base resume" that's several pages long, with lots of bullet points under each job, where I spin the various job duties for each job different ways. Even if it seems like a long list, it gives me options to emphasize different things by including or excluding different bullets when I send out a resume.

When I find a job that I want to apply for, I study the job description, then edit my "base resume" to make sure that I'm hitting all the keywords from the job description, and to keep my resume under two pages. So I might have eight bullet points describing my work at a job, but only send these four to company A, but a different four bullet points when I apply to company B, and a different four bullet points to match the job description when I apply at company C.

Which is a long way of saying, if at some point you apply for a job where having fraud experience is useful, you might be able to use what they wrote. Even if you don't think you need it now. But yeah, if you don't want a Fraud Specialist job, edit that sucker.

I just find that no one listens.

Super annoying! *hugs*
