ravena_kadeLooking for small artsy coastal towns to visit... maybe even move to in the future.
I like Rockport, but many coastal places in Massachusetts are blocking out lower income peoples...like Ipswich. Provincetown could be really fun too...artsy, touristy, but I could get back to Boston by ferry if need be.

Date: 2023-09-18 09:03 am (UTC)Rockport is fun...I have met so many nice rich old ladies that love to garden and paint.They are nice, but the housing is so expensive.
Provincetown ...or P town as its called...is super artsy and is a huge huge gay community... that even as a straight old white lady I have always felt welcome in. Again its the new rich people flipping shacks that are the issue.

Date: 2023-09-21 09:23 am (UTC)I remember being little and going there with my parents and a few younger guys were talking loud about what they thought of my Dad... and my Mom walked over and said that they could keep him as long as she got his pay check... She scared them ;-)
For my 30th Birthday my ceramics class...that was filled with 40 and 50 year olds wanted to do something naughty so we went to P town and had a sex shop shopping trop and then went back to a friends house and we had a naughty Yankee swap.
The last time I was there was the day that same sex marriage was approved in the State. Everyone was so happy. A friend and I went into all the shops..art/antiques/and sex shops. The se shops where filled with young people all will to show someone older (in my 50s) their toys. I let them run with it...but asked if they had anything in the color orange. My friend asked what if they did have it in orange? I said that I would have to buy it. Weird that orange wasn't a popular toy color...but it saved me from buying ;-)

when I worked at the antiques auction house, we once did a day-long pickup at a mansion feet from the coast in Cohasset.
Holy jeezes the richness and opulence and arrogance.
I don't think I've been to Rockport. Not even to go see Motif #1
I'd been tempted to look at Plymouth but that's also become ridiculous.
I would like to go back to Nantucket
Also haven't been to the Cape (ie the beaches) in ages.
