Aug. 25th, 2023 06:35 pmTrying to make something of another rainy Friday Night.
Dinner is Pan Seared Scallops and a nice white wine.
I had wanted to make a scallop chowder that I due using Bay scallops , but I could not find any. The Fish Monger down the street said that the season for Nantucket Bay scallops isn't here yet...and he does not carry the imported Calico scallops. It would be a sin to make chowder out of Day Boat sea scallops so Pan seared it was.
Today I received the new Christmas Tree mold. The box couldn't fit in my doorway because of all the packing material. I am so happy it stopped raining for a bit. I had to unbox it on my steps. I enjoy making these 1960 and 70's throw backs because I enjoy knowing something I made will be part of some family's Christmas traditions...even if I dont have any traditions anymore. I am now just waiting for the cavity set molds. I like making them for the same reason. I leave my own little legacy...like any good ceramics person. I bought the molds now just incase I am laid off. In the next job life I wont be able to afford frivolous things.
