Jul. 4th, 2023 07:30 amI went into work yesterday as I thought it would be quiet. Nope.
I found out from the boss that the bank was offered a ton of money to be out of the building by New Years and not 2025. No location has been announce .
The big change is that they are emptying floor and consolidating and now all seats are hotel seats. No big deal. I go in to reserve a seat and since I was out Friday there are NO seats available. Someone in IT booked over 100 seats at the same time. I am concerned that if I do find a seat it will be on another floor, but will not have any monitors. I use 2 to do my work efficiently. The boss went to her boss to tell him I could not book any seats. There is another woman who was out Friday as well and could not book any seats. There are no seats but we must ben in the office 2 or 3 days a week...
The Boss's boss says to us that we need keep this problem in house. That I shouldn't go higher to get a seat or else they may find a building and make everyone come in everyday. He said he hopes we can just work remote if we stick it out until December. Ummm...not sure how that helps me work? I am sure that I will at least have an ulcer. He says that I could find a seat and move when people tell you to move and then go home at 10 and work from there. Umm...with the state of the trains that could take 2 or more hours. and who would do my work? He said I could finish the work when I get home. Do I get paid to stay late?
The Boston boss said not to worry. I told her that this is adding unnecessary stress. Not really sure how much more of this I can deal with. All I want to do is work and all this stupidity is getting in the way. I told the team lead to text me if anything important happed on theFriday I was off so I could be on top of things. I could have gotten in the system Friday and been okay. But No. Now every PTO day could be a booby trap.
Later I asked the boss if there would be a holiday 2 hour release. She said I could leave whenever I wanted. That was odd. They the team lead in PA would not respond to any of my IMs. I asked he if anything was wrong? No response. I asked was I getting the cold shoulder because I was being laid off at 10 AM?
She responded saying she was working on Month end stuff.
At 10 AM I was not laid off Lay offs come a bit later in July and last day is timed with a pay period.
At noon the boss said I could leave, I could not because of of the manual accounts sent me 300 entries with no descriptions so it will take a few hours. She asked if she could help. She doesnt know the account so she could not. She left.

Having to sign up for a desk every single day (we couldn't do it weekly yet) was why I never went back to the office when my last job had return to office. I'm sorry your office is bungling this too. You'd think by this point people would have figured out how to make things work smoothly, but NO...
