May. 2nd, 2023 08:22 pmHad only 3 hours sleep last night so it was a rough day.
My team leader's Father in Law fell last night and has a fractured skull. They will not perform surgery to stop the bleeding because he has a type of blood cancer that if they do surgery he will bleep to death. Sad. They are giving him clotting agents to see if the bleeding may stop but he may not wake up. So freaking sad.
There was a meeting with the CEO of operations. No word on when our building will close. No word on where we will wind up. People asked about more flexible work from home. His response was he'd like us to get back to normal and be in the office 4 or 5 days a week. WTF.
Had a rushed one on one with the Boston boss. She wanted to skip it but I said no. I needed to tell her just how frustrated I am and how ludicrous some of my accounts are. We are using a new system but most of my work hasn't crossed over yet and upper management is acting like my accounts dont exist even thought I have hundreds of thousands of dollars out of balance.
I know I am not a favorite...but my personality type does not like to be ignored. I cant be fired for bringing up audit issues within accounts.
I have made myself a promise that I will not go back in the office 5 days a week. Not this office. I am here for flexible scheduling to deal with my Dad's issues. If I loose that then why stay. I should start over. Now how do I go about keeping that promise to myself? I don't have a clue. I have 7 years before I can get medicare. 4 years before I can get early Social security to supplement any income.
I told Dad that I would not stay at this job if I have to be in 5 days a week..maybe not even for 4. That means I cant deal with his medical visits. He wanted to said that I have to, but I would not let him finish.

Date: 2023-05-07 10:19 pm (UTC)There are a lot of managers out there who are just not able to grown or change or be flexible. I feel bad for their employees and businesses, because they're going to have to compete with companies that ARE more flexible. A whole lot of younger people won't even consider a company that requires 5 days a week in the office.
