Jan. 21st, 2023 08:13 amFriday (yesterday0I called the hospital pharmacy to see if they got the doctor referral on Wednesday or Thursday for Dad's arrhythmia med. Nope. I need this for next Sunday. They said that the hospital doctor still has not responded and suggested that I make phone calls. Sigh. I called the pacemaker doc office and they said they would do it that day. I called at 2:30. Nope. The pharmacy said to call back Monday. I asked If I would have the med before the 28th. They said that they would order the med and they should at least have some one Monday. Who the hell prescribes meds that they hospital doesnt even have. This is ridiculous. Its easier for me to get meth than it is this med.
Today is weekend 2 of puttering around the house then a ceramic class Sunday. Its raining/snowing again this weekend so I wont be able to bring in the Spa from outside or bring up the rug to the craft room to finish that off.
I am making more soup... 2 batches...my traditional and Dad's low sodium version. Soy sauce makes this easier. I am also making a low sodium BBQ sauce to use in a few recipes this week.
Looking for healthy things and found something interesting. Frozen Bubba burgers; The Angus beef version have 250 mg sodium. The Bubba Turkey burger has 280 mg sodium. Stop and Shops premium burger has 75 mg. Doing more reading I find that ground beef is considered low sodium. 75 to 85 msg of sodium per 4 ounce serving. Ground turkey has more sodium.

Date: 2023-01-21 03:04 pm (UTC)I hope that if I do the right research and cook okay Dad can still go to a restaurant and have a cheat day once a week. It helps that I enjoy cooking and looking at recipes. It wont do me any heart either. If he had no symptoms of heart failure in the summer and then went down in October...then I really hate to think what my heart looks like.

Date: 2023-01-22 11:30 am (UTC)It's weird the different sodium levels in things.
Banana chips nothing.
Other dried fruits some to a lot.
Raisins thankfully not much. :)
So much for the white meat being healthy. LOL......
It's the 21st century, you would think they could come up with a better preservative then salt. :o

Date: 2023-01-22 12:46 pm (UTC)It bothers me so much because the only reason my Mom had to go into a rehab , and get contaminated, is because I could not find a doctor that would give me a refill on her pain killers for another week... and I was too much of a goody two shoes to find anything on the streets. They day she died is the day they legalized marijuana in my state. So not getting the med for Dad is just triggering.
I bet they do have an alternative but it would be expensive. Salt is cheap.
I did make a very low sodium BBQ sauce yesterday. I like it, but it wont keep more than 5 days. I am going to try and froze it.
