Jan. 7th, 2023 11:40 amYesterday we had an 8 AM appointment in Boston with the heart failure clinic. The cousin had us leave at 6:30 AM because we could not tell if there would be traffic. We were the first appointment and there before the clinic opened. Oi.
We liked this Doctor. She had seen Dad several times when he went in on Thanksgiving. She was the one who called me and asked if I could bring Dad food. I liked her then. I thought she cared ...and cared enough to call me back to make sure he had food he would eat.
We liked her even more yesterday. We said we didnt understand why he was here when we had a cardiologist. I told her that the cardiologist referred us to a specialist, but didnt even tell us it was a heart failure specialist. I told her we were confused and didnt understand what really was going on. She said that if we wanted we could use her as her cardiologist. Her specialty is heart failure...but she could also take care of Dad's regular cardiology needs. This appointment was so much more positive when when we saw the cardiologist in December. I really didnt know then if Dad would be disabled.
This Doctor said Dad was looking good. She appreciated my detailed notebook on Dad's weight and Stats and stuff. I guess not everyone keeps up with that practice. She listened to me when I thought Dad's current weight is not sustainable if he regains any muscle. She told me what to do if Dad seems to put on fluid...it is not an ambulance trip.
She also said Dad could drive and go to work as long as he was supervising and not lifting. Dad was so happy.
Dad has a Monday appointment with the pacemaker doctor. Then a stress test on Wednesday. Then we meet his primary care doc for a physical on Friday.
Im tired
I hope we can find a new normal soon as I am exhausted.
