Nov. 21st, 2022 08:37 pmDad's BP is low. He is now out of breath just from walking around.
They stopped the fluid pill to try and raise his BP, but it hast worked and now he has fluid build up.
We had a visit at the hospital again. This is usually the visit where they tell people they can drive again. Not for us.
The surgeon's office was concerned about fluid but tell me to make sure he is drinking to try and get the BP up/stable. They sent us home.
In the car ride I get a call from the people monitoring his vitals. Do I now that his BP is low? YES. I explained that we were at the surgeons office and they sent us home. They said the cardiologist is the person we need to see.
When I started making dinner I get a call from the cardiologist. He wanted to know how Dad was. I said he was watching TV and feeling okay. I told him how he was out of breath walking from the car and about the BP. He said that the surgeon reached out to him when we left. He wants us to get an x-ray before we see his nurse practitioner on Wednesday. He said that if Dad didnt feel well or dizzy I need to get him back to the ER. I asked if I should stop the heart mead that they told me to start up on Friday. No. I asked if I should start up the fluid pill. He said no.
I don't know what to do. I am upset and loosing it. Why would they send us home from the hospital if I may need to send him back in a moments notice. Why wont they do anything with his meds NOW. I spoke to 3 offices today; The heart Surgeon at The Boston Hospital. The primary care, and the cardiologist. I also spoke with the vision nurse people and no one is telling me anything constructive. I need a plan. I need something before I stroke out. I though he would have a team of Doctors. These people are not working like a team at all.

Date: 2022-11-22 08:42 am (UTC)All too often the medical care in this country just sucks.
From what I heard around our clinic, cardiac surgeons are kind of worthless once the surgery is done. They just don't care any more, their work is "done".
I hope somebody will step up and take control of your dad's care soon. :o
I was going to ask if he's taking any salt intake, but if he's already retaining fluids, you wouldn't want to add to that by taking salt.
Sending prayers your way. ♥
HUGS, Jon

Is there anyone at the hospital who could help? Some sort of patient advocate or coordinator type person?
