Oct. 23rd, 2022 07:18 amThe un-party is done.
Lots of left over food. I think mostly because we were missing 5 people. The food was good. I am going to freeze some and see who it comes out.
The cousin who bought the cake got a cake for 60 people. Huh? It was delicious. Chocolate with a nice tase white frosting. I want to take some and remove the frosting and freeze it. I think I can unfreeze it, cube it, and moisten with Kahlua for a trifle.
My sister's S/O is as non sociable in a brig group as the Texas Aunt. She left and went for a walk and she just wanted to hide and read. Its like she just chauffeured us there. Hmmm... The family is loud. I get that. But if it is nice if you try to mingle with the family of your S/O for an hour or so. Loud or not. The family was all friendly and seemed happy to see people for a happy time. My sister left to go find her. We are on a small peninsula, she couldn't have gotten lost They missed the singing happy birthday with the cake to a phone for Dad. The lead cousin cut the cake and then felt bad as she didnt notice my sister wasn't there. I told her not to worry. Dad wont notice. My sister will leave and these are the people who will be here for him (even if they drive me crazy doing it).
We went over to the hospital. I had spoken with ICU a few times and they sid Dad was doing great. The ride over is intense. Tons of traffic getting to the are, then the main roads in are by a place with a large encampment of homeless people and there are couriers on scouters and bikes, people walking out in the street, and ambulances and hospital shuttled that I think are droves by ex demolition derby drivers.. It moves like I have seen traffic in the big cities of India or China. This is why I take the train. My sister's S/O drives as they wont take a train, but she is not used to this typeof chaos. That and they wont me to navigate but I cant see from the back of the SUV. She also seems odd with lane changes. Like if the directions are take a right turn then the next is a left turn she doesn't make the lane switch until 10 ft from the turn and then is socked when the chaos traffic just doesn't let her over.
Now I shouldn't criticize since I dont drive...I am timid and need to move in the chaos as described so I choose to deal by foot and rail), but most drivers I know will ease their way into the proper lane earlier so they can easily make the turn. I have to sit in the back and constantly prompt lane changes. It makes me feel rude for telling her how to drive...
Dad was seated in a chair His eyes looked bright and he had good color. He was bored. For some reason he could not watch TV. He had a few tubes in him, but the vent tubes were out. He had no teeth in. I found out his teeth, cellphone and shoes were not with his belongings. Sigh. I asked if I could have someone look for them I understood that ICU staff are too busy, but is there someone I can call to help with this. An hour later they were located and Dad could have teeth and eat.
We went home and they wanted food. They stayed until 11. I was so tired. Sadly I was wide away at 4 AM.
I decided to change out my bedding and I stubbed my pinky toe on the radiator. I think I broke it. If it sells and changes color I will have to see about it. Oi.
Today is a quiet day. We are not going over until 3. I want to clean Dad's place before he comes home. He will also have a visiting nurse come in to check out the place. He keeps his place tidy ( I am thankful for that) but I want to get the a/c out go his bedroom and stuff.
I also want Dad to rest and not feel like he is on display. He will fall asleep if I am there but feels he has to entertain my sister because she is visiting. I figure we can go for an hour or so. They need to make sure he is walking and work with him so I dont want to be in the way . I want him out of ICU as soon as he can and I feel we would hinder that.
My sister is visiting the cousins to watch football until 3 today so I have a quiet Sunday planned.
