The bank had lay offs today.
Sep. 15th, 2022 02:00 pmToday was the first day since giving up my Visa work that I felt good. Not rushed. Not like I was shoveling. Only worked 8 hours. A tad bored (I hate spreadsheets).
Talked to the team lead about training on new accounts next week. We are getting 19 new accounts and taking over 10 more from another area.
Then we had an emergency get together at 12:30. There was a lay off. They laid off the other woman in Pennsylvania. We were all shocked because we just had a lay off at the end of July. WTF. My team leader lost a person then too.
I feel bad for the woman who was let go. She was the one who asked me if she could take Christmas Eve off. I think that was the second time she spake to me since June 2020. The sad part is that she is 61. Her husband was in a head on car collision back in May of 2020 and they are still fighting to save his leg with surgeries. She is the carrying the insurance for them. My Cobra for 1 was $780 a month 12 years ago. For 2 it must be sky high... and they cant go without or he wont get care... so her package will be eaten up by that. And she will have to find a job with healthcare to at least make it until they are both 65 and will not give grief because she has to take her husband to medical appointments (he is unable to drive)
I am shocked that it wasn't me who was let go. Especially since Visa has been moved to another team.
I am not sure how me and the team lead are supposed to do the work of 3 and take on over new accounts. I don't know what will happen on vacation times.
I know there is only a few more years here. The lease on the building is up in 2025. I Just hope to make it until after the North Carolina trip in April. If I am laid off in January I wont look to start working again until May.
