Aug. 7th, 2022 07:07 amOi...my feet and my head hurt.
I went to my Ipswich Beach yesterday... with all the issues going on with the Boston area public train system it took almost 4 hours to get there. Oi.
It was a perfect day for me. Low tide... lots of tide pools and exploring. No rough waves. The August waters are warm and full of little fishes. I love fish time. When I first hit the each it is full of families because thats where the life guards are. Tons of little ones playing in the water. Some have little nets to try and catch little fishes. Today was the first time that I saw a striped bass in with the sea of toddlers. It was also there for the little fishes. It did not mind the kids. And the kids didn't notice. Glad I saw a bass and not a small shark.
There were lots of sand dollars. I found a bed of live ones... They are furry and brown. I did find a few collectable (dead) ones. With all this heat Im sure there have been thousands of beach combers there. I also found moon snail...mostly alive. I put them back in the water. There was online onetime size of a baseball. so huge. Its body looked like a giant muscle.
I went without a camera and it felt so good to be light and not worry about my belongings. But as usual when you dont have a camera there is someone there that makes you wish you did. There was a tall crane hunting in the tide pools for the little fishes. He also was bullying and stealing fishes away from the gulls. I watched him for a half hour. It was kind of funny.
I stayed on the beach for over 3 hours. I have the tan for it. The shore line was cool, but once I started to leave and walked up to the dry sand where the dunes started the heat and light were brutal. I stoped at the bar before my train to have that Pina colada I said I would have a couple weeks ago when I was there with Dad. Not a wise choice. It was delicious, but I was dehydrated and it went down way too fast... so I was tipsy on my way back to the train. Oops...
It only took 2 hours to get home...yay for no broken down trains...and my train did not catch on fire...to many trains catching on fire in the heat. Since I was in no mood to cook I bout Chinese take out for Dad and I to munch on.
Today is a Dad day... I need to take him shopping for work shoes. He wants to go to a mall by the football stadium. We will poke around in the ac and grab a nice lunch. I think they may even have an art store.
Tomorrow is my last vacation day. I am trying not to look at my work computer.
