Yesterday I went to Manchester by the Sea t the singing beach. The beach doesn't sing to me (the sand is supposed to make noise when you walk on it), but it is a pretty cove. I was there at 8:30 AM (on the trains at 6:30AM) but there were lots of people. It was low tide so I thought I could take photos and loo for sand dollars. The surf is ought so it is not a sea shell beach. It does have real pretty shards of rocks though. Orange, Black and white granite.

I did get some nice photos this day. Things that will help fill the memory card so I can buy the new computer (this one is getting buggy as all hell... and I cant fix it). I did see a woman sketching there. It would be a lovely place for plein air water color... someday ;-)

There was one thing that annoyed me. There was a bikini clad family...Dad was in a tiny speedo...Mom and 3 teen daughters are in tiny bikinis. How cool it must be to have your daughters know how much junk you have in that tiny speedo (yuck). The Dad sets himself the wife and kids in a row in the water and spaces them each 2 ft apart. And then they tromp across the cove in the water back and forth back and forth.. It is a small cove. They are annoying. The were looking for sand dollars competitively. Oi. Tromp tromp tromp tromp tromp... up and down the beach. They were finding sand dollars alright. They also were really hard to get out of my photos. The annoyance was super annoying. I was going to leave. Tromp tromp tromp...

When I am up there usually some of the friendly women will say hi as they walk teh beach for exercise. I enjoy these encounters as these people are doing what I want to do when I stop working. One was a painter. One noticed my camera and we talked photography. They are taken aback by the fact that I take such a long train ride to get there, but they see how much I enjoy my time there.

I asked one woman if the tromping family were now regulars. She said that they have been here a couple times and that the are really annoying. I called them sand dollar storm troupers and they tromped by us again. They had been tromping for over 2 hours. She laughed, but I said that it just wrecks it for others. It's a shame.

I walked in the water some and the wave just soaked the lower part of my dress. I heard the tromping family get close. The Mom says "We need to get by her, she may find something" Really. WTF. I wanted to hip check her. I looked down and at my feet was a sand dollar. I bent over and scooped it up. The kids made a sigh... They had buckets full of the things. Oi.

The last who I mentioned the storm troupers to came over to me and was happy that I found one that they had missed.

After my beach time I went to a shop that I like. The woman who owned it made Jewelry like I make and want to make more of. Sadly she passed away of cancer in 2020, but I still do in. Her daughter runs the place now. She is not chatty like her mum was, but she has a nice eye for boutique items. I found a lovely orange silk dressing gown/robe with cranes on it...a very Japanese motif but not a kimono. I bought it or me. Someday I will be a little old lady answering the door in my orange robe. ;-) I have a set of orange high heels that match... but that is another story ;-)

Sounds like a beautiful place. Minus the storm troupers. :o

Maybe you could coax a Man-O-War or two to make it the Stinging Beach and drive off the trompers. :p

They were looking for sand dollars competitively.

Wow, that's super annoying. Why take more than one or two? They should leave them for other people (and so that they don't completely depopulate the beach of sand dollars).
