Jul. 8th, 2022 06:49 pmThis morning I opened my work email and saw that I was being offered Overtime. The team lead said I should call her if I had any questions. I did. I always do. I also know I can decimate an overtime budget if there are no caps. We shall see what comes of it. The only bummer is that I cant get time and a half because of the holiday this week and I have a pto day on Monday.
This week was the team leaders birthday. It was a big one. 50. I said that I wanted to acknowledge her birthday, but I know it was a hard one (First one without her husband). She said thank you and that I was right and she started to cry. I told her it was okay that this is normal and then I started to cry. I told her I haven't been able to sing happy Birthday or even think of cake since my Mom died. I remember her sining Happy Birthday and lighting my candles and we didnt even know how much she could not see. And we told her that we would have a cake for Dad's Birthday when she came home... but she was gone a 3 days later. This is the reason why the cousins and my sister pushing for a party for Dad's 80th irks me.
My VISA students still dont have access and everyone I tried to go to for help is on vacation. Great.
Dad is a bit upset. Unusual for him. He's usually like a golden retriever. We finally got an electrician to finish up the work we had done for teh deck...as a result the new slider doors we need new plugs. This guy say the Building permit in the window for the deck and said to my Dad that a permit would need to be pulled and he doesn't do that... and that it would cost over $7000 to put back the plugs because he would have to rewire the hole apartment as the wiring is old. He also said to forget about changing the ceiling light for a fan as that wont pass inspection. Ummm... WTF. So now I need to find another electrician to see if that was a bunch of BS. I cant imagine why the contractor cousin wouldn't clue us in on the electrical part as he just did the same work for his daughter. 7 grand is half teh cost of the deck. And if it is true...then I can understand why there are so many house fires. 7 grand to fix 3 plugs. No wonder why people cant update old homes.
I also need to reargue the stuff in the TV room when Dad is not home. He wants to leave everything where it is until I find an electrician. The giant TV and chair are blocking the sliding door. I need to change it so I can get out onto the deck to cook with out trying to deal with door handles when I am carrying food.
Tomorrow I head to Revere Beach in the morning. See if I can find some seashells.

Date: 2022-07-09 01:28 pm (UTC)And electricians have to be picky about stuff like that.
Hope your dad gets back in his cheerful mood soon!
