Insomnia strikes.

I worked 6 hours Sunday night just to try and catch up.

I know I have anxiety about return to work and dealing with the boss in person.

I am worried about a friend who has COVID. My cousin who got the Omicron Virus has not been able to leave the house for 5 weeks.

My Dad keeps saying how he wishes I was 62 so we can reverse mortgage the house... I don't know what bothers me more...him wishing my life away because he doesn't have a pension or that he is wishing my house away because he doesn't have a pension. My aunt and uncle have a successful reverse mortgage plan on their 3 family house...they get a monthly payment, and the rents from 2 other apartments, but they were 70 when they did this. I also know someone who didnt understand the papers they were signing and it did not work out.

Covid still worries me even though most people are behaving as though it's all gone and won't affect them.

Those reverse mortgage plans seem a good compromise for some people although I do believe that the deal offered is based on a lower market value than the property is worth.

I hope you can avoid the reverse mortgage. Houses are the best investment right now.

I have 5 years before I can even entertain that.

I also believe that the house is my best investment and the second apartment would be an income for when I am no longer working...if I keep the house. My dad is a guy that never planned for the future... and has no understanding of interest and anything financial. In the end he also cannot sign papers without my signature. I will just have to decide not to talk about it with him until I am ready. Its hard as it annoys me. Im a careless man's over cautious daughter.

Yes, be strong on the house! It will make or break your retirement. I am so very thankful our house is paid for. My dad was like that too, never planned, sigh. I think when a parent is like that it is bound to make us over cautious!

every time you post about how your father is leveraging you financially, i just want to smack someone. you would both do much better to actually sell the house yourself if you were going to move... and could find anything that was less expensive (which is difficult right now). but i know that you love your house, so i wish he'd just shut up about it, for your sake. reverse mortgages and financial institutions buying up all the houses for rentals are one of the reasons millennials are f*cked, right now, and no one can buy a house. we're in such a bad financial place, as a nation. gah.
