Went to Ipswich yesterday. Did some shopping for Dad and bought myself a necklace. Had my clams. They were great. Found out that the bartender I have known there for many years is retiring in 2 weeks. Glad we were up there to give her a tip for Christmas and to wish her luck. They have also sold the bar. The new people are keeping the recipes so I hope the clams will be as good. Its sad as the bar has been a safe place for me since 2005.

Yesterday I received a phone call from the oder friends I spend Christmas eve with...their family is dwindling. I figured I would visit their apartment and bring a couple lobster rolls. I get a call and find out that they have booked dinner with a sister and a brother and that our reservations are at 2. Umm...I work until 2:30 and because of vacation schedules I cannot leave my computer early... I wont be working, but I cant leave. They said they would pick me up on the way home then. Yup, pick me up after they have a big meal and desert while I haven't eaten. That sounds perfect.... not. Well, I guess I will have lobster by myself and bring over some wine. I could go with my Dad to the other cousins house, but 2 days chaos is more than I need.

Traveling at Christmas sound better and better every year. A warmish beach with sea shells is all I need. Bring my paints. Just relax.

Things change, but there is always the Ocean.

I would love to just escape to a warm beach also. That is a shame about their early reservation. I hope it all works out.

First your family=crazypants
Secondly my friends think you are lovely and when I mentioned friendsgiving next year they'd love you to come.
Lastly, I never thought I'd be one of "those" people but the troupe trips and being away during Christmas in a foreign land (FL) makes a difference. It's good to be away from painful memories and I haven't put up a tree since.

i actually think a trip right after Christmas, maybe leaning into New Year;s, is starting to look like a great idea. somewhere warm, i agree.

Glad you got to say goodbye! (Especially these days, I really worry when people just up and disappear, hoping they’re not down with Covid….)

They have also sold the bar.

Poop, I hope the only changes under the new ownership are good ones.

I’m with you, that might be convenient for them, but it’s horrible for you. =(
