Dec. 4th, 2021 08:55 amLast night went well. I had the interactions and light conversations that I need. This is my language.
I showed my crafts and received many compliments. I a lot of what I brought. Yay. The goal really was to help my shy friend get the word out about her shop. I Have my own craft show patter, This time is made sue to say that we were a small business right here in our city. I was focused on the shop locally made.
The big tree sold. I was surprised. One older woman came by all night to look at it but it was not a price she wanted to spend. She was there when a man bought it as a gift for his wife. I gave her a card and said said that I would be happy to teach her how to make one. I gave her the name of the special glaze I used in case she wanted to try to make one on her own. Not sure if we will get a call, but I offered. I enjoy teaching what I do.
The one thing Learned is that if I want to continue in any sort for craft show I need to get a card reader. The tree guy paid in cash, but everyone else paid in cards. My friend just got a new card reader for her phone. We had trouble with the first sale, but the young man was kind and went to an ATM and came back. i took the phone and looked for a you tube video on my phone and got it working. She has Square and it only takes 3% of the sale and has no monthly fees like her other card reader from her bank. You also dont have to use it every month. I think it would be good for me.
The other thing I learned is that if I do the winter market next year I need wool socks. I had boots and a good coat, but 5 hours on cold stone seeped through the boots. I would have been different if I had been walking around. But standing still was tough. I also may bring a rubber mat and put a rug on it.
Another thing I want to do is see how I can get involved with this space. Its called Kilroy Square...name that because the saying Kilroy was here was from our city. I want to bring the Art into the Artisan Pop Up shopping. I don't think nail polish strips and Avon and smelly jar candles from a large company art Artisan. Where were the photographers, beginning artists, small crafts people? Maybe only 7 out of 30 vendors actually made their product. $50 for a table in a Christmas market advertised by the city is not a bad price. It would be a good experience for people to get out their and get their art seen.
